Open Doors

We did amazing activities over the summer holidays - we went to the Andy Warhol exhibition, water actitives, horse riding and video workshops. Stay tune for the next installment.
If you are wanting to meet other young people make sure you come into drop in - it happens 12 - 5 every Wednesday afternoon. There's heaps of people to meet who are all really friendly and it's a great place to be yourself without having to worry.

And remember if you are needing someone to talk to about stuff, you can always make an appointment with Lisa - phone 3257 7660. Alternatively, you could email and she can help out through email contact. Click Here to email Lisa.

Is there something that you'd love to see on the website that we haven't got? Send Lisa an email and let us know what you want.

Open Doors is a service for young people between 12 -18 years of age. At Open Doors we do have social aspects of our service yet we are not a 'social group'. Open Doors is federally funded through the 'Reconnect' program. There are 98 Reconnect services throughout Australia, yet the one main difference for this service is that Open Doors is only available to young people who are exploring, questioning or identifying as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender).

We always have heaps of different things happening at Open Doors, yet essentially we provide individual intervention through counselling and support for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or are experiencing difficulties at home or feeling isolated and confused. For more info about what we do, check out the What we do section of the website.

What we are up to!

No Alt'The only way out is in'

'The only way out is in' is a resource that was produced by Open Doors staff and young people at our service in 2004. The resource is for young people who are starting to explore their sexuality and or gender. The resource became popular with young people, Schools, youth services and other Reconnect services like ours from the moment it was launched.

Finally the 'the only way out is in' is now available via our web page click here to down load or print your copy.

xmas1We can help families/close friends who have young people exploring their sexuality to talk through concerns and help work stuff out. For more info visit the Family & Friends section of the website.

We're located in Fortitude Valley really central to buses and trains so it's easy to get here, or we can come and meet with you, it's free and confidential just give us a call first! For more info visit the Young People section of the website.

Open Doors also aims to enhance or create networks of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender young people across SE QLD. We are available to offer information and support to other workers or community members. For more info visit the Community section of the website.
